Spring Fire Department Announces Winners of Fire Prevention Week Student Contests

The Spring Fire Department is thrilled to announce that Nylah White and Mia Sparacino earned the top honors in the department’s inaugural Fire Prevention Week Coloring and Essay Contests.

“Nylah White’s colorful artwork of Engine 70 thoroughly impressed the judging committee of our firefighters,” said Spring Fire Chief Scott Seifert. “And not to be outdone, Mia Sparacino did a great job with her essay. We hope to see both of them apply to be part of our team in the future.”

White is a second grader at McNabb Elementary. Sparacino is an eighth grader at Twin Creeks Middle School. Not only will their winning works will be on display at our fire stations, they will be honored guests at the Spring Fire Department’s 2018 awards banquet and both will receive a ride home from school on a Spring Fire Engine.

Iris Olivares of Smith Elementary and Bryan Coreas from McNabb Elementary received Spring Fire prize packages for their second and third place entries in the coloring contest. Jennifer Castro and Madelane Barnes, both of Twin Creeks Middle School, received Spring Fire prize packages for for their second and third place entries in the essay competition.

“Spring Fire received hundreds of entries in this year’s inaugural competition,” added Seifert. “We are beyond impressed with the talent shown and we can’t wait to see what they do next year.“
