The Spring Fire Department Honor Guard was formed in 2017 and is currently made up of 7 male and female personnel. The Spring Fire Department has always been rich in tradition and respects the heritage of the fire service.
Each of our Honor Guard personnel have gone through the Honor Guard Academy hosted annually by the Taylor Fire Department and the Taylor Professional Firefighters Association. The Honor Guard Academy is recognized by the Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force.
The Honor Guard uniform is unique and unlike uniforms for department personnel, all Honor Guard personnel wear the same uniform regardless of rank in the department.
Each person wears a navy blue shirt with the shield of the fire department and an Honor Guard rocker panel on each shoulder of the shirt. Over their left pocket they wear a Silver Badge with a Gold insert that reads “Spring Fire Department Honor Guard”. They wear SFD on each tip of the collar and wear a name tag with their first initial and last name over their right pocket. They wear red shoulder cords on their left shoulder and posess white parade gloves that are worn on certain occasions.
The pants worn are navy blue and have a vertical red strip on the outside of each pant leg and are secured by a black patent leather belt. The shoes worn are patent leather and in pristine condition.
On certain occassions the Honor Guard will wear a double-breasted navy blue dress coat with Gold buttons and accents. On occasions when wearing their dress coat outdoors and on other special occasions a cover (hat) may be worn. Their cover is dark blue with a red band and a gold medallion on the front.
