Spring Fire Department Launches Fire Prevention Week Student Contests

The Spring Fire Department has three exciting contests for students who live in the Spring Fire District.

  1. For Elementary School Ages (Kindergarten – Fifth Grade)

The Spring Fire Department offers two coloring pages for teachers and home school parents to print and for students to color and add their own creative backdrops.

The overall winner will receive a ride home from their school on a Spring Fire Truck and an invitation to the Spring Fire Department Awards Banquet on Saturday, December 1, where they will be honored for their artwork. The winning artwork will be displayed at the banquet and then at the fire station closest to the winner’s school or home.

The rules are as follows.

  • All students in Kindergarten through 5th grade who attend school or live in the Spring Fire District are eligible.
    • That includes private, charter and homeschool students.
  • Each school must either drop off their top three top winners artwork during business hours or mail them to the Spring Fire Department Student Contest, 656 E. Louetta, Spring, TX 77373.
  • All entries must arrive in person before 4 pm on Friday, October 12 or be postmarked no later than Saturday, October 13.
    • Homeschooled students can submit directly, but the same deadlines apply.
  • Each individual entry MUST include a signed school media release or a signed and dated note that the Spring Fire Department has permission to exhibit this child’s work in the media, social media and at fire stations and events.

  1. For Intermediate/Middle School Ages (Sixth-Eighth Grades)

The Spring Fire Department is holding an essay contest for intermediate and middle school students in the Spring Fire District.

The overall essay winner will receive a private tour of the Spring Fire Station closest to their home/school and an invitation to the Spring Fire Department Awards Banquet on Saturday, December 1, where they will be honored. The winning essay will be displayed at the banquet and then at the fire station closest to the winner’s school or home.

The rules are as follows.

  • All students in the 6th through 8th grade who attend school or live in the Spring Fire District are eligible.
    • That includes private, charter and homeschool students.
  • Each essay should be one page, double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman typed and include the students name, school and grade level.
  • Topics should relate the Spring Fire Department, it’s mission, it’s history or fire prevention.
  • Sources can include the following websites: SpringFD.org & NFPA.org
  • Each school must either drop off their top three top winners essays during business hours or mail them to the Spring Fire Department Student Contest, 656 E. Louetta, Spring, TX 77373.
  • All entries must arrive in person before 4 pm on Friday, October 12 or be postmarked no later than Saturday, October 13.
    • Homeschooled students can submit directly, but the same deadlines apply.
  • Each individual entry MUST include a signed school media release or a signed and dated note that the Spring Fire Department has permission to exhibit this child’s work in the media, social media and at fire stations and events.
  1. High School (Ninth -12th Grades)

The Spring Fire Department is holding an essay contest for intermediate and middle school students in the Spring Fire District.

The overall speech winner will receive a private tour of the Spring Fire Station closest to their home/school and an invitation to the Spring Fire Department Awards Banquet on Saturday, December 1, where they will be honored and have the opportunity to present their speech live or recorded. The winning speech will be shared on Spring Fire Department Social Media.

The rules are as follows.

  • All high school students who attend schools or live in the Spring Fire District are eligible.
    • That includes private, charter and homeschool students.
  • Each speech should be 3 to no more than five minutes long. Speeches can be recorded on a cell phone and submitted to your teachers or the fire department on a CD/DVD rom or USB drive.
  • Topics should relate the Spring Fire Department, its mission, its history or fire prevention.
  • Sources can include the following websites: SpringFD.org & NFPA.org
  • Each school must choose their top three top winning speeches and submit them to the fire department during business hours or mail them to the Spring Fire Department Student Contest, 656 E. Louetta, Spring, TX 77373.
  • CD/DVD rom or USB drives are preferred media for submissions.
  • All entries must arrive in person before 4 pm on Friday, October 12 or be postmarked no later than Saturday, October 13.
    • Homeschooled students can submit directly, but the same deadlines apply.
  • Each individual entry MUST include a signed school media release or a signed and dated note that the Spring Fire Department has permission to exhibit this speech in the media, social media and at fire stations and events.
