Tracee Evans
Public Information Officer
Spring Fire Department PIO Tracee Evans started our communications division in 2018. An accomplished broadcast journalist and communicator, Evans earned the Spring Fire Chief’s Award in 2018 and the National Information Officers Association Best Use of Video Award in 2021. She is also a proud 2024 alumna of Leadership North Houston.
Evans was the Houston area PIO to be honored with the Commission on Professional Credentialing® Public Information Officer designation in 2024. She completed the Executive PIO program at FEMA’s National Disaster & Emergency Management University in 2023. Her research paper, “Lies and Liabilities,” is published in the National Emergency Training Center library.
While at Spring Fire, Evans started producing annual reports for the community, created the department’s crisis communications manual, served on the Klein ISD CTE Advisory Committee and launched several popular community events including Haunted Firehouse, Truck or Treat, Spring into Safety and more.
In 2024, Evans was a featured speaker at the Florida Association of Public Information training conference and symposium, the Houston Galveston PIO Network, National Information Officers Association Region 6, for China’s Tsinghua University Global Business Journalism program and for the EPIO cohort. She also represented Spring Fire at Women in Fire, the Congressional Fire Services Institute and the U.S. Fire Administrator’s Summit.
Before joining Spring Fire, Evans led U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady’s communications where she earned Golden Mic and Golden Hardhat Awards. She was honored in 2016 with a Houston Bar Association President’s Award for her service on the Law and Media Committee and is a member of the Texas Bar College
In addition to earning a Master of Arts in communications and a Juris Doctorate, Tracee has achieved multiple certifications from FEMA, the National Fire Academy, the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress.
Evans has taught communications and audio production at multiple colleges, is quoted in media textbooks and has earned multiple honors for her news reporting, including four National Clarion Awards from Women in Communications, numerous Texas AP Broadcasts Awards and the Houston Press Club’s Texas Radio Journalist of Year.
In her spare time, the avid history buff loves to travel and study history. An avid book collector, she reads more than a hundred books a year. She also enjoys rescuing animals, volunteering and playing music.
Tracee, and her husband, Larry, are most proud of their two daughters who have earned Master of Fine Arts degrees in their respective fields.
