Spring Fire Mourns Commissioner Gayle Fuller
Spring, TX — It is with great sorrow that we announce that Harris County Emergency Services District No. 7 (HCESD7) Commissioner Leslie “Gayle” Fuller has passed away.
“The measure of a life is its service” is the motto of Fuller’s alma mater and her calling. As a proud Sam Houston State University alumnae, Fuller, 72, spent over four decades serving in federal, state and local governments before retiring after over 20 years of service to Harris County. Fuller passed away on September 25th.
“Gayle’s dedication was second to none,” said HCESD7 President Melanie Gander. “She fiercely looked out for both our taxpayers and firefighters.”
“Gayle taught me what true public service is,” added HCESD7 Commissioner Bob Schmanski. “Her passion for making fiscally sound decisions was contagious. She was simply a joy to know and a blessing to have as a friend.”
“Gayle was a vital part of our organization for many years and a major influence on our department’s present and future,” said Spring Fire Chief Scott Seifert. “She will be greatly missed.”
“Gayle helped the fire department grow based on Spring’s needs,” recalled Spring Fire Public Information Officer Tracee Evans. “She was also a great friend who loved to read and travel. I will miss her book recommendations and hearing about her adventures while viewing her photos.”
“Please keep her family, colleagues and friends in your prayers as they make her memorial arrangements,” said Seifert.
Created by voters in 1997 as the successor to Rural Fire Prevention District No. 1, Harris County Emergency Services District No. 7 is the direct service provider of fire suppression, rescue, fire/injury prevention and basic life support emergency medical services to 176,000 residents across 62 square miles of northern Harris County.
